Privacy Policy
Your recordings never leave your machine. Here's a full breakdown of what little data we do collect and why.
Last updated: April 12, 2026
1. Overview
KlipKap is built with privacy at its core. Our screen recording and AI-powered video editing runs entirely on your local machine. Your recordings, projects, and exported videos are never uploaded to our servers.
This Privacy Policy explains what limited information we do collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. By using KlipKap, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information (via Google OAuth): When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account name and email address. This information is used solely to identify your account and manage your license. We do not request access to your Google Drive, contacts, calendar, or any other Google services.
License & Purchase Data: When you purchase a Pro license, our payment processor (Stripe) collects payment information. We store your email address, purchase date, license tier, and transaction ID for license management and support purposes. We do not store full credit card numbers.
Usage Analytics (aggregated & anonymous): We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data such as feature engagement counts and crash reports to improve the Software. This data cannot be traced back to you individually and does not include the content of your recordings.
Support Communications: If you contact us by email, we retain your messages and email address to respond to your inquiry and improve our support.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
We explicitly do not collect, transmit, or store:
- Your screen recordings, video files, or any captured footage
- Your audio recordings or microphone input
- The content of your projects, timelines, or edits
- AI subtitle transcriptions generated from your recordings
- Webcam footage captured during recordings
- Screenshots or previews of your screen content
- Files stored on your local machine
All AI processing (including offline speech-to-text subtitles) runs locally on your device and produces output that stays on your device.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:
License Management: Your email address and purchase data are used to activate and verify your Pro license, process refund requests, and send license-related communications.
Authentication: Your Google account information is used to identify you when you sign in and link your account to your license.
Product Improvement: Anonymous, aggregated crash reports and feature usage counts help us fix bugs and prioritize new features.
Customer Support: If you contact us, we use your information to respond to your inquiry and resolve issues.
Legal Compliance: We may process your data as required by applicable laws or to respond to valid legal requests.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Local-First Architecture
KlipKap is designed as a local-first application:
GPU-Accelerated Capture: Screen capture and encoding happen entirely within your Windows system using your local GPU. No video frames are transmitted over the network.
AI Subtitles: The speech-to-text model runs as a native process on your machine. Audio is processed in memory locally and transcriptions are written to local project files only.
AI Audio Denoiser: Audio denoising is applied locally using on-device processing. No audio is streamed to external servers.
Project Files: All project data, timelines, and media assets are stored in a local application data folder on your device.
The only network communication KlipKap performs is: license activation/verification, checking for Software updates, and sending anonymous crash reports (which can be disabled in Settings).
7. Data Retention
Account & License Data: We retain your account information and purchase records for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for legal and business purposes (typically 5 years).
Support Data: Support emails are retained for up to 2 years.
Anonymous Analytics: Aggregated, anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked to you.
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting contact@klipkap.pro. Note that we may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention).
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited personal information we hold:
- Account data is stored in encrypted databases
- All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and is PCI-DSS compliant
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to addressing breaches promptly if they occur.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
Opt-Out of Analytics: You can disable anonymous crash reporting in KlipKap's Settings at any time.
